This is a rough draft of the web series “UNHINGED” budget. I want to be 100% transparent with where the money is being spent. I’ll post a PDF version as well sometime soon.
Anything you can give will really help us out even if it’s a dollar.

It’s Official James Franco & Anne Hathaway to host the Oscars

It’s Official, James Franco and Anne Hathaway will host the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

I really can’t believe they went this young with the co-host for the 83rd Oscars. Don’t get me wrong I’m excited to see both Anne & James up there and can’t wait.

I’m a huge fan of James Franco I’ve been since the first Spiderman and since we have seen him host SNL doing a great job; I feel like we are in for a great show.

Now with Anne Hathaway I’m not her biggest fan but she is very talented and did a great job in the opening bit of the 81st Academy Awards.

Anyway it’s goes, it’s still the Academy Awards and I’ll still have a great time watching on February 27th 2011.

Both might receive nominations this year and I wonder if it will effect how the academy votes. What do you think?

THE WALKING DEAD

When a new series comes to TV I will normally watch the first 3 episodes and then make my decision from there if I want to keep watching or if this program has any legs to stay on the air.

THE WALKING DEAD

I was really excited about this show from all the previews I had seen to the marketing campaign it produced, I couldn’t wait until this program aired.  I’m not the biggest fan of zombies as I believe they are very real and will one day destroy the world but was still very interested in seeing this show.

What I think of the show so far: I think it’s just okay; the first 15 minutes of the show were great. Not only did it hold up to being very realistic it used sound or should I say the lack of sound to scare me to not wanting to be alone in our dark house, my wife can validate to this.

After the 15 minute mark the show became very campy opting to use handheld camera angles and not in a good way on shots that didn’t need it and really showed the budget and inexperience of the director.

Now on to the budget: For a cable show you would expect the budget to be a little lower but with a second season already confirmed you think they would want to attack this show head on. Some of the camera angles are very cheap like panning up and around the trees when clearly the sound is coming from the ground. Most likely they didn’t have the room they needed in the woods to pan around the eye level of the trees.  The CGI is not that good in very wide shots and exposes just what a budget they are working with but then they go and surprise me with a great roof top shoot.

Character development seems to be a little rocky with this show. Now I can understand the father and son acting the way they did with the main character but then he meets that blonde chick in the mall and she freaks out on him about making noise and that’s what she’s about to do. I think the acting is a little over par for me and I hope the editor and the director do a better job of cutting scenes together.

Anyway the show has some good things about it but I wouldn’t count on the good to over weighs the bad.

Are you going to keep watching or has the show already jumped the shark for you?

TV TIME

I’ll be writing post soon about Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead.

Who I would like to see host the Oscars

NPH (Neil Patrick Harris)
I would love to see NPH host the 83rd Academy Awards show even if I think he would be “suited up” better for the 84th Academy Awards after he has two more movies released next year,  Harold & Kumar and The Smurfs.  The likelihood that he will be offered this year or even take it this year seems very unlikely, but I will always have hope for NPH.

Jon Stewart
Jon is a very funny man and a great show host, but he hasn’t been is a movie in years.  On one hand I believe he would raise the Oscars viewing audience in the 18-35 years range way up, but again he really a TV man.

Robert Downey Jr
I think this would be the perfect fit for him but I also think he might do better with a co-host maybe Jon Favreau; the two funny men up there would be perfect.

I guess I’ll have to wait just like everyone else and hope it turn out to be one of these guys.

Review of Netflix Instant on the iPhone

So I’ve been using the Netflix Instant app on the iPhone for about two months now and I really like it.

It’s a little clunky on the interface but the video plays perfect over Wi-Fi  and 3G.

If you have a Netflix account and an iPhone I say download this app today.

So the Apple ipad is out, now shut up!

Yesterday I watched the release of Apples ipad and now today I’m watching the after math of what it’s caused. Sure the ipad is cool don’t get me wrong I already have the mini edition and it also comes with a phone, but lets be frank people the ipad has not even released yet so please stop speculating on your blogs.

I’m sure the ipad will make a huge splash in the techy world but past that I’m not sure. I can tell you for sure I don’t want one, but I’m sure there are plenty of people that do.

What apple needs to do now is justify this product to the average consumer and I’m not sure they can.

I’ve seen all this hype about it bringing newspapers back from the brink of death; people the newspaper, as we know it is DEAD! What the news industry needs to do now is create an e-paper that is paid for just like a newspaper but is downloaded to the ipad every morning. If Apple can’t sell this to the average consumer then this will not work.

As a techy myself I don’t care about local news and no one else under 25 does ether. This might save the larges papers but the local papers will die off.

Why would a twenty something want to read the local paper when they have Digg, Engadget and so much more to read online for free?

Now if the magazine and comic book industries take advantage of this, they might profit really well but for now lets just wait for this to be released before you advise your clients to move ad dollars back to papers.
